Space Force awards $25 million contract for satellite data integration

WASHINGTON — Outside Analytics, a software and data processing specialist, was awarded a $25 million contract to integrate data from missile-warning satellites and other sensors at the U.S. Space Force’s Tools, Applications, and Processing (TAP) Laboratory, the service announced Sept. 25.

The $25 million award is the first task order under a larger five-year, $215 million Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract that Outside Analytics secured in June under the Small Business Innovation Research program. The IDIQ framework allows defense organizations to issue additional task orders over the contract’s duration, simplifying the procurement process by removing the need to negotiate new contracts for each request.

Outside Analytics, based in Broomfield, Colorado, will leverage its Deneir Analytics and Visualization Ecosystem platform to provide 2D and 3D visualization of information from large structured and unstructured data sets. This technology is expected to improve the analysis of data from infrared sensor missile-warning satellites.

“Their work on this initial task order will enable the TAP Lab to visualize research and development initiatives in a way that is operationally relevant,” Maj. Ana Clark, capability integration and configuration manager at the TAP Lab, said in a statement.

The Space Systems Command opened the TAP Lab in Boulder, Colorado, in 2021 to focus on the analysis of data from infrared sensor missile-warning satellites. The facility serves as a “sandbox” for industry, academia, government agencies, and allied partners to collaborate on improving space domain awareness.

Outside Analytics, which was acquired last year by defense and intelligence contractor SMX, is poised to support multiple U.S. military and defense organizations under this agreement.
