(NewsNation) — Rep. Eric Burlison, R-Mo., shared a never-before-seen video taken Oct. 30, 2024, off the coast of Yemen showing an MQ-9 drone launch a Hellfire missile at an “orb.”
The video was shared at a House Oversight Committee hearing on UAPs on Tuesday in which government officials, military veterans and journalists testified on their experiences.
The missile appears to bounce off the object, veteran UAP journalist George Knapp observed: “And it kept going.”
“What the hell is that?” he added.
NewsNation special correspondent and investigative journalist Ross Coulthart reacted to the video with shock: “This is new, this is big … the best technology of the U.S. doesn’t work against whatever that was.”
Rep. Burlison spoke to NewsNation’s Joe Khalil about the video, saying that it was anonymously given to him.
Burlison told NewsNation that he introduced the footage at the hearing to let the public form their own opinions on the matter.
“I’m taking the posture that rather than hold on to these things and keep it from the public, I’m gonna release it to the public, I’m gonna be transparent, I work for the people, and I’m gonna let the public determine the accuracy or validity of the video,” he said.
Burlison also noted that one significant moment in the “remarkable” video is that after the object was hit and “shifted form,” there were still objects “trailing behind it.”
Burlison prefaced his comments by claiming he is not a video expert and doesn’t have the “forensic” capabilities to determine the validity of the video, also admitting that there could be a simple explanation for what transpired.
Burlison is yet to receive an official explanation from the Pentagon concerning the video.
