(NewsNation) — A former U.K. Ministry of Defense UFO investigator says the mysterious heat signature spotted by the U.S. military over Europe in 2022 could be a UFO.
“It is interesting, of course, that when the Pentagon’s (All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office) unit, the lead now for UFOs, released this latest batch of videos, pretty much all of them said ‘resolved as balloon,’ and this one wasn’t,” Nick Pope told “Elizabeth Vargas Reports” in a Wednesday appearance.
“We simply haven’t got enough data about it. We don’t know how far it is from the camera. We don’t know what speed it’s doing. Some of these things literally turn out to be birds or insects, but it’s probably not a balloon,” added Pope.
The Pentagon said findings released Monday by the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office showed it recently solved several UFO mysteries, but one of the UAPs spotted couldn’t be identified.
The AARO said the “footage depicts an apparent heat signature with characteristics consistent with those of a physical object” and “cannot determine whether the observed signature originates from a physical source, either as a thermal emission or a thermal reflection, or other source, such as a heat differential in the environment or sensor display error.”
Pope thinks these kinds of findings of an unresolved case are interesting. However, they are also potentially a distraction.
“I mean, we’re always looking, I suppose, for a smoking gun, a video where you really would take this beyond speculation,” said Pope.
“But with the best will in the world, even though this is an interesting video, it’s just basically a blob moving around, and it’s not going to tell you much without the data.”
The news of the unresolved UAP comes several weeks after the House Oversight Committee held a hearing on UAPs, government disclosure and protection for whistleblowers, whose allegations include that the government has access to crashed extraterrestrial craft.
During the hearing, officials unveiled new footage appearing to show a Hellfire missile failing to destroy an unidentified “orb.” Pope says the footage was a fascinating find but that the Pentagon needs to be concrete about what the object was.
“We really need a definitive statement from the Pentagon saying what this is, because there’s all sorts of theories floating around on the internet,” he acknowledged.
