Scientific Society For Astrobiology (SSA)
Incorporated in May 2022, the SSA is a professional society that advances the field of astrobiology by fostering collaborations amongst members and helping to boost the community’s voice to the public, policymakers, and U.S. funding agencies.
The SSA welcomes new members across all career stages and research interests. SSA is working to accelerate the research community growth through initiatives such as the funding of early-career conference travel grants (2 annual cycles), contributing to ongoing efforts like the recent NASA Day of Action (5-6 October, 2025), and hosting development and networking events for members. To learn more about SSA’s vision and mission as well as ways to get involved, see the SSA website: https://www.astrobiologyssa.org/about-the-ssa
If you are attending AGU, consider reaching out to SSA’s membership officer (Dr. Suniti Karunatillake) and consider attending the Town Hall on the “Limitations and Expectations in the Search for Life,” after which he will be available to answer questions.
