Membership Updates to Support the Future of American Society for Gravitational and Space Research (ASGSR)

ASGSR 2025

The American Society for Gravitational and Space Research (ASGSR) plays an important role in connecting the gravitational and space research community through its annual scientific meeting, advocacy efforts, student engagement opportunities, and professional networking that support collaboration and the next generation of gravitational and space researchers. This coming year, we look forward to continuing to engage the community through the new Analysis Group that was previewed during the Annual Meeting, as well as other initiatives that we will be undertaking in response to your survey feedback.

To support the continued growth and long-term sustainability of ASGSR, the Governing Board has approved two updates to our membership structure, including a new membership category and an adjustment to dues rates. These changes will take effect on July 1, 2026.

First, we are pleased to introduce a new affiliate membership category designed to better serve our growing middle and high school community. Beginning July 1, ASGSR will offer a Student Affiliate membership to middle and high school students and an Educator Affiliate membership to secondary school educators and K-12 student chaperones. Affiliate memberships will provide access to society communications, exclusive events, and discounted registration rates for the ASGSR Annual Meeting.

Second, the Governing Board approved an adjustment to membership dues for the 2026-2027 membership year, the first adjustment in more than a decade. During that time, operating expenses for the society have increased by approximately 40 percent. While the Board has worked to streamline operations and improve efficiency wherever possible, maintaining the programs, meetings, and services that support our members requires a modest adjustment to dues. This was a difficult but necessary decision to ensure the long-term sustainability of the organization.

We recognize that a dues increase may create financial strain for some members. To help ease the transition, members who join or renew between April 1, 2026, and June 30, 2026, may do so at the current 2025-2026 rate, with membership extended through June 30, 2027. The new rates will apply to memberships purchased on or after July 1, 2026. As a reminder, all memberships reset annually on July 1.

Additional details about membership categories and updated rates are available at https://asgsr.org/member/.

We deeply appreciate your continued engagement and support as we work together to strengthen the community and advance gravitational and space research in the years ahead.
