Are you or your family looking forward to the lunar eclipse coming next month? Spotting this celestial event with the naked eye is a great way to see it, but a pair of binoculars can enhance those views so much more.

What’s more, you can get the Celestron Cometron 7×50 binoculars on sale for $35 on Amazon.

In our Celestron Cometron 7×50 binoculars review, we thought that they wouldn’t be that great but honestly, we ended up loving them and thought they were an amazing, cheap entry to binocular skywatching. We loved their wide field of view and good optics for their low price under fifty dollars.

They are ideal for a beginner skywatcher who wants a better view of the night sky but doesn’t want to spend loads on it just yet. They have 7x magnification, which is a good level for a more detailed look but not so much that you will have to worry that much about a shaky handheld view. 50mm objective lenses also allow plenty of light in, so you have a chance of observation when hunting for dim star clusters and galaxies.

They are a great value pair of binoculars, even with a regular retail price of $48, and they are now on sale for $35 on Amazon, their lowest price since September last year. In fact, they are even cheaper now than they were on Black Friday! If you have been finding yourself wanting a better look at the stars or wanting to give the gift of first binoculars to loved ones, you can’t go wrong with the Cometron 7x50s.

Our binoculars guide has a skywatching highlights section with our top three picks for the month ahead. For a more detailed look at the month ahead, we have an in-depth sky guide that breaks down the entire month in skywatching.

Key features: 7x magnification, 50mm objective lenses, BaK-7 glass, 6.8-degree angular field of view, 13mm eye relief, 1.7 lb weight (771 g).

Reviews consensus: We gave the Celestron Cometron 7×50 binoculars four stars in our review for their wide field of view, astronomy-ideal porro prism design and good optical performance for the price.

✅ Buy it if: You are a beginner stargazer and want to make the first leap into binocular skywatching without spending hundreds of dollars.

❌ Don’t buy it if: You are looking for the highest image quality in a pair of binoculars. Whilst good for a budget pair, there are plenty of other models available that offer a premium optical experience, like the Nikon Monarch HG 10×42 or image-stabilised Fujifilm Fujinon TechnoStabi TS-L 1640.
