Software startup Integrate makes push into defense market following Space Force award

WASHINGTON — Seattle-based software startup Integrate is seeking to expand its footprint across the U.S. defense sector following a contract win with the U.S. Space Force and a $17 million Series A funding round announced Feb. 11.

The company develops a collaborative project management platform designed for distributed teams operating in classified environments. Integrate said its software has been deployed on the Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS), a Defense Department network used to handle top secret information.

Deployment on JWICS means the platform can be used for programs involving highly sensitive national security data.

Integrate entered the defense market after securing a five-year, $25 million award from Space Systems Command, one of the largest Small Business Innovation Research Phase 3 agreements awarded by the Space Force. The contract supports the command’s Mission Manifest Office, which coordinates satellite launches across multiple government agencies, including the Defense Department, NASA, the intelligence community and commercial vendors. The office matches satellites and payloads with available launch capacity, a process that involves complex scheduling across organizations.

Integrate initially began working with the Space Force through an SBIR Phase 2 contract in 2023.

John Conafay, chief executive and co-founder of Integrate, said the company continues to support the Space Force while expanding its defense relationships.

“We’re investing significantly in the team across engineering and our Washington, D.C. office,” he said. “The engineering expansion is focused on making work seamless between classified environments — a super interesting and powerful problem to solve,” he said. “Additionally, we are leaning into our AI-native capabilities for risk analysis to help identify smoke before there’s fire,” said Conafay, referring to potential security problems.

The new funding will support expansion beyond space programs. Integrate said it plans to extend its technology into the maritime, aviation and automotive sectors, industries that also manage complex supply chains and multi-party engineering programs.
