UAP hearing will have historic implications: Congresswoman

(NewsNation) — Tuesday will mark the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena hearing before the House Oversight Subcommittee, to discuss an alleged secret UFO retrieval program being operated by the Pentagon.

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have pushed the military to be more transparent in both open and closed-door hearings, raising concerns that the department is taking actions to evade Congressional oversight.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., told “CUOMO” the hearing will have some historic implications for the country, as it will be the first specifically involving the Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets.

“So there’s over 300 pages that will be submitted in the … congressional record, of which people will be able to go through themselves,” Luna said.

“There are many people from all across the DOD, across the entire US government, over 30 people, to include our own secretary of state, who have come forward and said, ‘You know, there’s something here.'”

Luna wants stronger protection for whistleblowers

Former Air Force officer and intelligence official David Grusch, a whistleblower, told NewsNation in an exclusive interview that UFOs exist and the U.S. government has even retrieved crashed spacecraft.

Last week, Grusch spoke to Luna in a secret government “skiff” — in advance of the meeting, which she will chair — and she says something really “bizarre” happened involving a threat.

It’s not the first time Luna’s heard of threats against witnesses — and potential witnesses — to her UFO task force.

“It’s very alarming, and I will leave it at that,” Luna added, though she did acknowledge that the bizarre occurrence came at an odd time.

“Based on what we’ve heard previously with some of these witnesses, to include some witness testimony that you’ll hear tomorrow, this is not the first documented case of this, which is incredibly important as to, how do we address this in the future?” she said.

Other military personnels’ opening statements were released

Ahead of the hearing, several other former military members testifying have released opening statements on what the House Oversight Subcommittee should expect to hear.

Jeffrey Nuccetelli, Alexandro C. Wiggins, Dylan Borland, Joe Spielberger and George Knapp all gave written testimony about their experiences with UFOs over a period of time.

“Between 2003 and 2005, five UAP incidents occurred at Vandenberg Air Force Base, home to
the National Missile Defense Project, a top national security priority,” Nuccetelli said in his statement.

The hearing is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Tuesday ET.
