Houston, Texas – World Space Week 2025 recorded nearly 50,000 activities across 102 nations, marking the highest global participation in its history, World Space Week Association announced today.

WSWA President Dennis Stone said the scale of participation demonstrates the growing relevance of space worldwide.  “World Space Week continues to reflect how space has moved from a specialized sector to a global priority. Participation at this scale shows that educators, institutions, and governments recognize the importance of preparing the next generation for an expanding space economy,” he said.

Several countries celebrated World Space Week on a massive scale. In Saudi Arabia, activities were held across the national school system by the Ministry of Education with additional events by the Saudi Space Agency.  Across Pakistan, space agency SUPARCO organized thousands of events.  In the United States, more than 250 schools participated in Arm & Hammer’s Baking Soda Rocket Day as part of World Space Week, the Association said.

“When tens of thousands of activities take place at the same time, it creates a level of global attention that individual events cannot achieve alone,” said Association Executive Director Alma Okpalefe. “That synchronization is what distinguishes World Space Week and gives event-holders leverage in reaching students and the public,” she said.

Robert Lightfoot, President of Lockheed Martin Space, served as Honorary Chair of World Space Week 2025.  John Elbon of United Launch Alliance is Honorary Chair of World Space Week 2026 which will be held October 4–10 under the theme “Rocket Revolution.”

The Association’s Annual Report details and illustrates last October’s record-setting celebration.

Organizations and individuals are invited to plan World Space Week 2026 events and add them to the global calendar at www.worldspaceweek.org.
