Novaspace and the Occitanie Region Launch the Inaugural Space Summit for a Resilient Future in 2026

Paris, September 17, 2025 – Novaspace, with the support of the Occitanie Region, will host the inaugural Space Summit for a Resilient Future on May 12–13, 2026 in Toulouse, France. This international gathering will convene more than 500 leaders, policymakers, industry executives, and end users from across the global space value chain to explore how space can drive a more resilient, sustainable, and innovative future.

A Global Dialogue Rooted in Europe’s Leading Space Region

Occitanie has long been at the center of Europe’s space story. Concentrating 40% of France’s space workforce and one-third of Europe’s space jobs, the region is a reference hub that brings together major players such as the CNES Toulouse Space Center, Airbus Defence and Space, Thales Alenia Space, as well as a dynamic ecosystem of start-ups. Toulouse is also home to France’s Space Command, NATO’s Space Centre of Excellence, and initiatives such as the Space Climate Observatory (SCO).

Occitanie also plays a key role in space exploration programs, from lunar missions to Mars, exemplified by the SuperCam instrument, designed in Occitanie and flying aboard NASA’s Perseverance rover. To reinforce this leadership, the Region — in coordination with the French State, CNES, the Aerospace Valley competitiveness cluster, and the Occitanie space industry association (Club Galaxie) — adopted a Space Roadmap in late 2023. This roadmap aims to accelerate innovation, support disruptive New Space companies, and strengthen competitiveness across civil, defense, and security applications.

Resilience at the Heart of the Summit

The Space Summit for a Resilient Future will highlight how space contributes to risk anticipation, natural disaster preparedness, crisis management, and the reinforcement of security and sovereignty in an increasingly unpredictable environment.

Sustainability and innovation will also be addressed, not as separate topics, but as drivers of resilience: ensuring responsible practices across the value chain and fostering new technologies and business models that allow the sector to adapt and remain competitive.

By placing resilience at the core of its agenda, the summit moves beyond the traditional industry program, focusing on how space can provide concrete solutions to urgent challenges facing citizens, economies, and the environment.

This orientation, combined with an international decision-making audience and the opportunity to take part in Learning Expeditions across Occitanie’s industrial and research sites, is what sets the summit apart.
